Get Up! Get Over It! Get On With It!

...This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth to those things which are before. I press toward the mark of the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 3:13-14

he Great Preacher Adrian Rogers used to preach a message from this passage on this title.  But His point is simple as was Paul's: it's futile to continue dwelling in the past ~as good or as bad as it might have been. There comes a time when all of us must get up, shake off the dust and decide, I shall arise and get on with living the Life Christ has for me. But the thief who comes to steal, kill and destroy wants to bog us down with thoughts of the past, sins of the past, relationships of the past, and thought patterns of the past, until we don't fulfill what Christ has for us to do today.  We must get up and not let him keep us down any longer.

Then we must get over it.  We have to forgive the past. Forgive yourself and accept that you are forgiven b/c of the shed blood of Jesus!

Rom 3:25 Whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

 ISN'T THAT FREEING! I AM FORGIVEN! Not I can be or I will be but I AM FORGIVEN! And if you're forgiven, you are free! And if you've been given freedom from the guilt and condemnation of the past by the Son of God, you are FREE INDEED!!!

Because He's set you free, you can not only get up, and get over it, but you can GET ON WITH IT! Stop wallowing around in self-pity or self-abasement! Get out of those doldrums!  Shake off the malaise, and move on to accomplish the great things God has in store! GET UP! GET OVER IT! AND GET ON WITH IT!

Amen! Don't be so caught up with the past, that you fail to see you present! If there is any group who should really live it is the church who has been given life and life more abundant through Jesus Christ!
