God is on the Move, but Satan is too! Look Out!

Wow! God has been doing so many wonderful things in our midst lately at PCBC! We had 26 people settle things with the Lord and profess faith in Christ during our revival meeting last week with Evangelist Braxton Hunter, and then 3 more were saved Sunday! I realize that these commitments are just by products of the revival that began in our hearts days, weeks and months before. We should never get to a point where souls being saved does not move us and create a joy and excitement in our hearts!!!

However, having said that, we must also beware. Because our adversary the Devil does indeed walk about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour! My friend, Dr. Jeff Laborg, who pastors the great 2nd Baptist Church in Warner Robbins, Georgia, once made this profound observation. He said, "The level of opposition always rises to the level of revival." With God making the move that He is making, we can expect Satan to make a counter attack. And his methods have not changed. He always uses the same one's. No wonder the writer of Scripture said, "We are not ignorant of his devices."

He uses the following weapons/methods in his war on the Saints:
  • Discouragement - He is the accuser of the brethren. He will accuse to the point where we get discouraged and make everything seem like it is against us. If we are not careful, we will find ourselves thinking that God is even against us.
  • Deception - He is a master deceiver and masquerades as an angel of light. He will deceive about who we are in Christ, and the authority that we have because of our position in Him. We don't have to take anything off the devil! Sometimes, he'll deceive us about what is most important and get us so focused on the minor issues of personal preference, that we miss the major issues of loving the Lord our God with all our heart, our neighbor as ourselves, and winning others to faith in Christ.
  • Disease - He sometimes gets God's people bogged down with physical illness to the point that we can't be all we need to be for God's glory. And
  • Depression - He gets us bogged down with deception, disease, and discouragement; and if we aren't careful we will become depressed and paralyzed with fear!

There are many others that I could mention, but for sake of time I won't. The main point is to be alert! Don't give place to the Devil! Because we do serve a risen Savior, we can and should be steadfast, immovable and always abounding in the work of the Lord! God Bless you!!!

Why doesn't Jesus just hit the devil on the head with a big hammer and watch his brains fall all over the floor?

Unless they are in partnership to get you one way or another .....

Good points you make here. Satan hates people getting saved. In the early church it often cost the Christians their lives-but he could only go so far-as far as God's chain let him go.Keep the faith brother!

boy, you sure touched some bottons, But truth is Satan is strong at work in our little planet, and it is about to be destroyed, Do you know what Obama is doing to contribute? check out an article on my blog and find out.

Sephora, never mind Obama, what is your god doing to contribute to anything on this cosmic equivalent of a backwater?
You may be too busy praising him to notice that it has exactly the same effect as not praising him. He is not there. Neither is Allah or any of the couple of thousand dead gods that no-one believes in any more.

Phillip, you claim no-one believes in God anymore, so obviously you are factually incorrect. It is also intellectually dishonest to deny the existence of God or some intelligent design in the universe, when there is absolutely no way to explain the origins of the universe within itself. Take the Big Bang or whatever, even in its most primitive form there is no logical explanation for the origin of life in itself. Furthermore, it is impossible for one person's brain to house all of the knowledge in the universe, so even if I were to give to you that "there was no scientific proof for God's existence," which I won't, but for the sake of discussion I will, you can't know if there is still knowledge somewhere in the universe waiting to be discovered that will prove the existence of God. So if you want to be intellectually honest, you would have to say, "I don't know if there is a God," so you would be agnostic and not atheist. Just something to think about!

Nathan, your logic astounds me. You are part of the "If we can't explain it, god must have done it" school of thought. That just moves everything one level back.

There is "no logical explanation" for a magic invisible friend but it doesn't stop you and millions of others believing in one.

And I do know that there isn't a god. Certainly nothing like the one that has been developed over the millenia into the 'Christian' daddy, son and holy spirit thing.

Your need to believe is greater than any broadside science can fire at you? What do I stand to lose? Nothing. You stand to lose everything that you have based your life on and your ticket to the next life. Better to keep believing than face facts eh?

Regards

Phil.

Technically, if I'm wrong, I have lost nothing, and I gained a lot of peace, joy and happiness. But if you're wrong you have lost everything, b/c your loss will be forever!

As for God being an "invisible, magical friend" you are 1/3 correct. He is my best friend! But He's not invisible, b/c the Heavens declare His glory and the firmament shows His handiwork! The stars themselves sing His praises for day unto day they utter speech, and night unto night His knowledge! As for the magical part of it, while I do not always understand why or how He does something, I do know that He is a God of order and law, therefore, He does things purposefully and not "magically."

As for the so-called broadsides that have been dealt Christianity, name one. Evolution certainly isn't one, because there have never been any credible missing links found, which prove evolution between species. We know there is evolution within species but not between them. Furthermore, the fossil record itself points more to a world-wide flood than millions and billions of years. The problem is not that God is not knowable or reachable, it is that mankind in his depravity has chosen to worship and serve the creature rather than the Creator who is blessed forever. Therefore, God has given them up to a reprobate mind to do that which against nature itself.

If you will open your mind and heart, you too can find God.

"Those who seek dilligently after me will find me." -Jeremiah 29:13

I am afraid you are too far gone to ever be redeemable. Enjoy your relationship with your 'best invisible magic friend' who isn't real. I can't even be bothered to post links to 'evidence'. You will remain blinded by the light.

There is more evidence to support a world-wide flood to explain the fossil record? I have to see this evidence, pretty please.

Your ignorance and arrogance are astounding in equal measures.

Nathan Wilkerson said...

You have fish that were fossilized while swimming for one. You have billions of dead things, laid down by rock layers all over the earth for others. You have whale fossils found in desert regions. You have mountains and valleys and not just barren plains. All of these point to a Worldwide flood and not evolution. The problem is not with the inaccuracy and unprovability of the Bible. It is with the willful ignorance of man, that as Romans 1 states, "Although they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were they thankful...for this cause, God gave them over to a reprobate mind." There are basically 2 types of minds in the world, renewed minds and reprobate minds. The renewed minds sees creation in light of the Creator; the reprobate mind "worships and serves the creature rather than the Creator who is blessed forever!" Furthermore, my friend isn't invisible or magical, his invisible attributes are clearly seen and understood by the things which are made! He is also a God of miracles not magic! Magic is the black arts and associated with the occult (Satan). So, watch your terminology.
